On this episode of Una Mordida Tacos Tijuana, our host Chef Danny Betancourt went to "Tacos El Gallo" located at Blvd. Lázaro Cárdenas 7206, Otay Constituyentes. On this occasion, he tried two tacos: a birria taco with skin priced at $3.93 dollars ($65 pesos) and a stuffed pepper taco with birria priced at $6 dollars ($100 pesos).

Stuffed Pepper Taco with Birria

This taco has batter-fried California chili pepper stuffed with cheese, birria, beans, onion, coriander, red salsa, and it is served on two corn tortillas. Two things to note about before trying this taco were that that the tortillas "got lost" in the great amount of ingredients and how "monstrous" this taco was due to its huge size.

When he took his first bite, Chef Danny was completely fascinated. He confirmed that the tortillas got lost not just in looks but also in flavor as the fried batter, the soft pepper, and the fatty Monterrey cheese dominated in this taco. The birria meat had good seasoning and well-balanced touches. This is why this taco gets a rating of 9.2.

Birria Taco with Skin

This taco has beef birria, skin, onion, cilantro, avocado salsa, and it is served on two corn tortillas. When he tried it, Chef Danny reiterated that the birria meat was seasoned well as he could notice the spices and the peppers used in the adobo.

He added that the spiciness was felt more in this taco due to the avocado salsa with jalapeño. The tortilla stood out more, though Chef Danny did not really like the skin due to how greasy it was. He said that it was not bad, and that this will be the perfect taco for you if you like this flavor. This is why this taco gets a rating of 8.9.
