As families prepare for the colder months ahead, Governor Marina del Pilar has called on Baja Californians to take proactive steps in safeguarding their health by getting vaccinated against respiratory diseases.
Governor Marina del Pilar said:
During winter, respiratory diseases spread more easily, and vaccination is one of the most effective tools to prevent them from becoming severe. We encourage everyone, especially high-risk groups such as seniors, pregnant women, young children under 5, and individuals with chronic conditions, to take this essential step to protect their health.
The governor emphasized that free vaccines against pneumococcus, influenza, and COVID-19 are readily available at health centers and sanitary jurisdictions across the state.
She also noted that temperatures are expected to continue dropping as Baja California transitions into the peak of the winter season in late November and early December.
Basic hygienic measures such as frequent handwashing, following sneezing etiquette, eating fruits and vegetables, and drinking water can also be implemented to prevent illnesses, the governor explained.
Furthermore, people are urged to avoid braziers and bonfires inside homes considering they use up the oxygen in confined spaces and produce carbon monoxide, which could potentially cause poisoning and even death.
96% of Baja Californians have received the COVID-19 vaccine thanks to the "Brigada Correcaminos" campaign, according to Governor Marina del Pilar. Developed by the federal government, this program aims to provide medical services to people who need it the most.
