Baja California Records Gross Domestic Product Growth under Governor Marina del Pilar’s Administration

Baja California’s state gross domestic product (GDP) currently accounts for 3.9% of the national total.

Governor Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda recently announced that Baja California's State Gross Domestic Product (GDP) has surpassed 951 billion pesos. This milestone solidifies the state’s position as one of Mexico's leading economies. The information was reported by the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI).

The PIBE represents the total value of goods and services produced and sold within a state over a year. According to INEGI, it serves as a key metric for assessing economic performance and comparing the economic dynamics of different states.

"With an annual growth rate of 3.5%, Baja California ranks seventh among the states contributing most to the national GDP. This achievement reflects the collective efforts of the government, businesses, and citizens driving the state’s development," Governor Ávila Olmeda stated.

According to INEGI's 2023 data, the secondary sector, which comprises 43.5% of Baja California's economy, showed the strongest growth with a 4.8% increase.

This growth was primarily driven by the construction industry, which expanded by an impressive 26.8%. Additionally, mining and manufacturing recorded notable increases of 25.1% and 2.7%, respectively.

The tertiary sector, representing 47.4% of the state’s economy, grew by 1.9%. Within this sector, media and commerce stood out, reporting growth rates of 7.8% and 4.3%, respectively.

"Baja California's economy is advancing thanks to the collaboration between the public and private sectors, alongside policies aimed at promoting investment, creating jobs, and improving the quality of life for Baja Californian families," Governor Ávila Olmeda emphasized.

With these results, Baja California has cemented its status as one of the country’s most dynamic economies. This recorded growth underscores the importance of the state’s key sectors and lays a strong foundation for sustainable development in the years ahead.
