On this episode of Una Mordida Tacos Tecate, Chef Danny Betancourt went to "Tacos El Tío" located at Calle Aldrete. On this occasion, he tried two tacos: a traditional birria taco priced at $30 pesos ($1.57 dollars) and a quesabirria priced at $40 pesos ($2.16 dollars).
Quesabirria
This beef quesabirria (birria with cheese) has two fried tortillas, beans, asadero cheese, purple onion, and cilantro. According to Chef Danny, the quesabirria meat had a good flavor and it was lightly salty which had to be balanced with a little bit of lime. It was very juicy and had good texture. The asadero cheese had an excellent flavor and along with the fried griddled tortillas, it all joined together to give it a delicious taste, which is why this taco gets a rating of 8.5
Price: $40 pesos ($2.16 dollars)
Traditional Birria Taco
This taco has two almost fried corn tortillas. The meat was seasoned quite well and had good texture. It had a good flavor; as it didn’t have the asadero cheese, it was less salty than the quesabirria. Chef Danny rated this classic birria taco by Tacos El Tío an 8.3.
Price: $1.57 dollars ($30 pesos)
