Baja California Governor Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda has announced the start of road restoration projects in Mexicali's western zone, reaffirming her commitment to improving the quality of life for families living in the state's most vulnerable areas. These priority actions are part of a broader strategic agenda aimed at addressing the needs of 53 of the state’s most underserved communities.
The governor emphasized that while her early administration focused on major infrastructure projects, her final three years in office will prioritize aiding neighborhoods with the highest levels of social neglect.
"We will end the last three years of my administration by helping the poorest neighborhoods, the neighborhoods that require these projects to improve their health, their well-being, and for recreation purposes," the governor stated.
For this particular project, streets at Colonia Santa Isabel will be rebuilt and enhanced with a total investment of 14,808,663 pesos. Construction work will be carried out by the Secretariat of Infrastructure, Urban Development, and Territory Redesign (SIDURT).
The governor's 53 priority zone assistance plan aims to improve quality of life in vulnerable communities by restoring roads, providing access to basic utilities, improving public spaces, and creating cultural and recreational areas to promote social cohesion and reduce crime rates.
"I remember this place fondly, and just like President Andrés Manuel López Obrador and President Claudia Sheinbaum taught us, love is paid with love. That's why we will help these communities because they have given us their trust," Governor Marina del Pilar said.
Three projects will be carried out in the western area. The first one is the reconstruction of Avenida Esquilo, between Carretera Santa Isabel and Calle Ayutla, with an investment of 3,652,713 pesos. The second one is the restoration of Calle Satélite, between Avenida Esquilo and Sócrates, with an investment of 1,068,292 pesos. Lastly, Calle Zacatecas will be restored and paved, from Candelas to Plutón, with an investment of 10,87,657 pesos.
Thanks to these projects, nearly 30,000 residents will benefit by having adequate, safe, and functional roads. Furthermore, this is proof of Governor Marina del Pilar's commitment to well-being and sustainable development to help the communities of Baja California.
