“Birria Sí” in Tijuana has a very juicy birria taco with soft meat

Chef Danny also tried a quesabirria with asadero cheese full of flavor, but a little bit salty

On this episode of Una Mordida Tacos Tijuana, our host Chef Danny Betancourt went to “Birria Sí” located at Av. Miguel Anzurez 329, Colonia Libertad. On this occasion, he tried two tacos: a birria taco priced at $1.76 dollars ($30 pesos) and a quesabirria priced at $3.82 dollars ($65 pesos).

Quesabirria

This taco has beef birria, cheese crust, cabbage, cilantro, onion, and it is served on two corn tortillas. Before he tried it, Chef Danny claimed that the tortillas were fried well and that the meat looked very juicy.

When he took his first bite, he said that the saltiness level was higher than usual (he pointed out that this was “according to one own’s taste”). The cheese used was asadero, which had a lot of flavor, but was very salty. The meat was very juicy with a very soft texture. The cabbage added more crunchiness in contrast with the cilantro and the onion. On the other hand, the tortillas “owed a debt” because they could hardly be tasted despite the fact that they were two, and by being so fried, they became dry. This is why this taco gets a rating of 7.8.

Price: $3.82 dollars ($65 pesos)

Birria Taco

This taco has beef birria, cabbage, onion, cilantro, pickled onion, and it is served on two corn tortillas. When he grabbed it, Chef Danny said that this taco felt less heavy than the quesabirria “a lot of tortilla, a little bit of meat, let’s see how it goes,” he added.
When he tried it, Chef Danny once again commented on how soft and juicy the meat was. He compared the flavor to Jalisco-style birria, which is not very seasoned or greasy, and he confirmed it when he took a bite and his palate was not overwhelmed by spices. For Chef Danny, the tortillas were missing some birria grease to intensify their maize flavor. This is why this taco gets a rating of 7.6.

Price: $1.76 dollars ($30 pesos)
