Try the delicious 7 Mares taco with snail and manta ray by “Tacos Tijuana Jr.”

It also had fish and shrimp

On this episode of Una Mordida Tacos Tijuana, our host Chef Danny Betancourt went to “Tacos Tijuana Jr.”, located at Plaza Paseo del Río, 3era Etapa Río Tijuana. On this occasion, he tried two tacos: an Ensenada-style fish taco priced at $2.05 dollars ($37 pesos) and a seafood taco with cheese crust priced at $3.16 dollars ($57 pesos).

7 Mares Taco

This taco has fish, shrimp, snail, manta ray, pico de gallo, green pepper cream, purple onion, asadero cheese, and it is served on a white corn tortilla. When he took his first bite, our host was able to taste the manta ray which had a jelly-like texture.

The cheese had a very good flavor as it was greasy and creamy, and it mixed very well with all ingredients. The shrimps are cooked in a broth that keeps them soft. Chef Danny would have liked it if the tortilla had been buttered and had been fried even more as its flavor was subtle. The pepper cream added a lot of flavor without it being spicy. This is why this taco gets a rating of 8.8.

Price: $3.16 dollars ($57 pesos)

Ensenada-Style Fish Taco

This taco has battered fish, pico de gallo, salsa, green pepper cream, purple onion, cabbage, and it is served on a white corn tortilla. The first thing Chef Danny highlighted was that this taco was quite “chubby”.

The two battered fish pieces had a great size; both the protein and its batter had good flavors, and they weren’t lost in the midst of all the ingredients. The pico de gallo added freshness and Chef Danny said that something he liked was that the batter did not overwhelm the fish. The red salsa wasn’t as spicy as he expected and the green dressing added a push of flavor. Just like with the previous taco, the tortilla was missing intensity. This is why this taco gets a rating of 8.9.

Price: $2.05 dollars ($37 pesos)
