With Christmas and New Year celebrations approaching, the 25th Tijuana City Hall, led by Mayor Ismael Burgueño Ruiz of Tijuana, is calling on the public to protect their pets by adopting safety measures and refraining from selling or using fireworks, which can have a significant negative impact on animals.
The Tijuana government prioritizes animal welfare. Residents must heed this call and understand that fireworks are prohibited under local regulations due to their potential to harm pets' health.
When fireworks are used, animals often experience fear, panic, stress, and loss of control, prompting them to seek shelter or hide in perceived safe spaces.
Article 28 of the Regulations for the Prevention and Control of Noise in Tijuana explicitly prohibits fireworks. To enforce this, the City Government has launched the "Tijuana sin Pirotecnia" (Tijuana Without Fireworks) operation, encouraging residents to celebrate the holidays responsibly.
This initiative, implemented in coordination with the Secretariat of Government and the Secretariat of Citizen Security, includes a dedicated 911 hotline for reporting the sale or use of fireworks within the city.
Additionally, the "Green Button" app, managed by the Directorate of Environmental Protection, allows citizens to report incidents, actions, or omissions that may harm the environment or public health, including the sale and use of fireworks.
Protecting Tijuana is a collective effort. The 25th City Hall reaffirms its commitment to safeguarding the well-being of all Tijuana residents by preventing the use and sale of fireworks and working toward a safer, cleaner, and more peaceful city.
