On this episode of Una Mordida Tacos Tijuana, our host Chef Danny Betancourt went to “Tacongo” located at C. Orizaba 3003-e9, Neidhart, 22020. On this occasion he tried two tacos: a jackfruit birria taco and mushroom chorizo taco, both priced at $2.25 dollars ($45 pesos).
Jackfruit Birria Taco
This taco has jackfruit birria, onion, cilantro, sauce, and is served on two corn tortillas. The first thing to note about this taco was its great color and that the tortillas were completely fried.
When he tried it, Chef Danny was very impressed because he couldn’t notice that the taco didn’t have any meat, as the texture and flavor were very similar. In addition, the tortillas were made right in the restaurant and were fried. The thing that gave it the most points was that it had a great flavor, which is why this taco gets a rating of 8.7.

Mushroom Chorizo Taco
This taco has mushroom chorizo, guacamole, onion, cilantro, red sauce, and is served on a handmade corn tortilla. Visually, the mushroom looked like pretty much any other chorizo made out of animal protein; what makes it different is that it is made with a vegetable.
Just like with the previous taco, when Chef Danny took his first bite he was amazed because he felt as if he was eating pork chorizo, both because of its flavor and spices. The texture was also as soft as animal protein chorizo. The tortilla was handmade with a good size, thickness, and maize taste. The only negative points were that the guacamole was a little diluted and that in the mushroom mix he could feel big pieces of guajillo chili, which were difficult to chew. This is why this taco gets a rating of 7.8.
