Spicy food lovers must try the chicken milanesa taco by “Tacos Varios” in Tijuana

The chicken milanesa taco had a bird’s beak chile salsa that really surprised us

On this episode of Una Mordida Tacos Tijuana, our host Chef Danny Betancourt went to “Tacos Varios” located at Blvd. Gral Rodolfo Sánchez Taboada 10350, Zona Urbana Río. On this occasion he tried two tacos: a stuffed pepper taco and a chicken milanesa taco, both priced at $1.4 dollars ($27 pesos).

Stuffed Pepper Taco

This taco has a battered pepper stuffed with cheese, beans, rice, and is served on two corn tortillas. Though the corn tortillas were the usual type of tortillas, they had a less than normal size. Before he tried the taco, Danny highlighted that the stuffed pepper felt heavy, and that the batter had a very good color.

When he took his first bite, Danny said the taco felt very plump due to the tortillas, which were very thick. As there were two, they overwhelmed the palate. Both the rice and the beans were not a highlight as their beds were quite subtle; the batter had a very good flavor. The pepper was very soft, which is ideal for this type of taco and the cheese was a fresh style, which loses flavor and softness when it is fried. On this specific taco, it would have been ideal if there had only been one tortilla. This is why this taco gets a rating of 7.8.

Price: $1.4 dollars ($27 pesos)

Chicken Milanesa Taco

This taco has milanesa chicken breast, beans, rice, bird’s beak chile salsa, and is served on two corn tortillas. The first thing to note about this taco is that the sauce looked and smelled like it was going to make our chef suffer, which he confirmed when he took his first bite.

Chef Danny stated that the person making the tacos warned him about the salsa’s spiciness, but he decided to put it all over the chicken breast. Though the breaded chicken’s thickness and the two tortillas managed to “block” some of the spiciness, it didn’t completely neutralize it and it made our chef cough due to how hot it was. The milanesa was not overcooked, which made the taco not feel dry. This is why this taco gets a rating of 8.2.

Price: $1.4 dollars ($27 pesos)

Tacos Varios are not registered in Google Maps, but you can find them at this location:
