Tacos by “Carnitas Auténticas de Morelia” in Tijuana get a 7 for being very greasy

Our host was surprised by the flavor and texture of these tacos but they were full of fat

On this episode of Una Mordida Tacos Tijuana, our host Chef Danny Betancourt went to “Carnitas Auténticas de Morelia” located at Av. Murua Martínez, Murua Poniente, 22456. On this occasion he tried two tacos: a cueritos (pig skin) taco and a chamorro (leg) taco, both priced at $1.25 dollars ($25 pesos).

Chamorro Taco

This taco has pig chamorro, red salsa, and is served on two handmade corn tortillas. Our host decided to add some lime juice as, by just looking at it, the taco looked quite greasy, to the point that he had to remove a piece of meat fat.

Our host was surprised by the softness of the pig chamorro as well as its great flavor. The salsa was “spicy but flavorful”. The taco overall was missing the vegetables that are usually used to give it a fresh touch. The protein was very greasy, and the tortillas had a light maize flavor. This is why this taco gets a rating of 7.1.

Cueritos Taco

This taco has pig skins, pickled onion, carrots, red sauce, and is served on two handmade corn tortillas. The first thing of note was the color of the cueritos, and that the tortillas were griddled a little bit too much before the ingredients were put on them.

When he took his first bite, Chef Danny’s mouth began to burn. At first, he thought it was the salsa, but he realized that the onion had habanero pepper slices, so he decided to move them aside to appreciate the flavor of the skins. He added more lime, since he claimed that this taco was full of fat. He added that this taco was ideal if you were only going to eat one or to satisfy a craving. The pig skin had a nice soft texture as well as a good size and great flavor. This is why this taco gets a rating of 7.3.
