Tijuana’s Caesar’s Salad is acknowledged as one of Mexico’s most important dishes

Once again, Tijuana’s salad achieves recognition

Hellmann’s and Saladitas have decided to acknowledge the culinary and touristic diversity of Mexico’s towns during Lent. This is why they have decided to recognize Mexico’s dishes in a virtual reality experience through social media and influencers and celebrities’ posts.

“Hellmann’s and Saladitas will offer a gastronomic trip from northern states such as Sinaloa and Baja California to southern ones such as Tabasco and Yucatan, traveling through Hidalgo, Puebla, and Morelos, to mention a few,” they said in a statement.

For these companies, a town’s typical cuisine, passed on from generation to generation, is a reflection of culture and identity that takes into account the ingredients and preparation techniques of every region. Among the 40 dishes selected for this Lent, one can find the following:

Baja California’s Caesar’s Salad; Sayulita’s zarandeado octopus; Tequila, Jalisco de Tequisquiapan’s cuachala; Queretaro de Taxco de Alarcon’s coconut ceviche; Guerrero or Tapijulapa, Tabasco’s fish wrapped in Mexican pepperleaf, among many others.

The combination of fresh lettuce and prepared dressing by Chef César Cardini, plus recently-made croutons, made the Caesar’s Salad go down in history. This dish was born in the 1920s at Tijuana’s Hotel and Restaurant Caesar.
