In this episode of Una Mordida Tacos Tijuana, Chef Danny Betancourt visits tacos El Pepe, which is located on Calle Manuel Oviedo in Colonia Libertad, Tijuana. This time, Chef Danny Betancourt tastes two tacos with roasted meat (carne asada). What makes them different is that in this taqueria, "the classic" is a crunchy taco while the other is a regular taco with a soft tortilla, both cost 28 pesos (1.5 dollars)
Carne Asada Taco
This taco has roasted meat (carne asada), beans, cilantro, onion, guacamole, red sauce, and nopales from this "regular" taco at this unique taqueria. The first thing he mentioned was the flavor of the tortillas was good despite the tiny size, and all of the taco garnishes were tasty. Danny also noted that the meat flavor was quite salty and that the salsa tasted delicious at first but was very watery. He awarded this taco a 6.5 out of 10.
Price: 28 pesos (approximately 1.5 dollars)
Crispy Carne Asada Taco
This taco is presented on its crispy tortilla, and below it is a white corn tortilla with carne asada, onion, cilantro, a bed of refried beans, and pickled purple onion added by Danny.
Although the taco is tine in size, the taste given by the crunchy tortilla, in addition to the refried beans, is outstanding. When paired with the flavor of the charcoal and other features, this taco received an 8.3 rating.
Price: 28 pesos (approximately 1.5 dollars)
