Marina del Pilar announces 23rd edition of October Festival "Territorios de Igualdad" in Baja California

Julieta Venegas and Flor Amargo will perform live in Tijuana as part of this festival

Governor Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda announced the 23rd edition of October Festival "Territorios de Igualdad", a free event that includes 137 activities with artists from Mexico, Poland, Brazil, and Morrocco as part of the public policies to benefit priority groups in the state.

During her speech in her Wednesday Morning Press Conference, she explained that art is not a luxury for the few and this festival, which will take place from October 1 and November 8, will reach communities and spaces that usually haven't had access to cultural events such as immigrant centers, shelters, and indigenous communities.

We are working as a government so that culture becomes a right for all people, that's why I gave the order to bring culture to the land and to open spaces in order to make a direct impact on thousands of people”, the governor said.

This edition, the governor said, promises to be a diverse and inclusive cultural event that is open to the public at large while providing high-quality offerings to seniors and children.

Included in its varied program, four massive events stand out: these are the concerts by Flor Amargo on October 26 and Julieta Venegas on November 8, in the city of Tijuana, while in Mexicali, Moroccan Malika Zarra together with Circuito Cervantino will be performing on October 27 and the immersive Van Gogh Experience will be taking place from October 11 to January 12, 2025.

She pointed out that with the purpose of celebrating diversity, inclusion, and multiculturalism, several important activities will take place in the seven municipalities of Baja California, emphasizing especially priority groups such as San Felipe and San Quintin.

The Secretary of Culture, Alma Delia Ábergo Ceballos, pointed out that, unlike other editions, this year involved a call that resulted in 187 Baja Californian, national, and international music, theater, dance, circus, and interdisciplinary proposals.

She said that Mexicali will have one of the most exciting and enthralling experiences: the Van Gogh Immersive Experience that will immerse attendants in the fascinating world of art. This will be the only event of this festival with a cost for the public at large, however, 10,000 tickets will be given to people in a vulnerable condition.

This is a very diverse and high-quality event as in Tijuana, there will be 33 activities; in Mexicali, there will be 29; in Tecate, there will be 26; in Ensenada, there will be 25; in Playas de Rosarito, there will be 14; in San Quintín, there will be 6; and in San Felipe, there will be 4, the head of the culture agency in the state said.
