Very sour and spicy adobada by "El Poblano" in Tijuana gets a rating of 5.6

Chef Danny also tried an asada taco

On this episode of Una Mordida Tacos Tijuana, our host Chef Danny Betancourt went to "El Poblano" located at Av. Alfonso Vidal Y Planas 501E, Nueva Tijuana. On this occasion, he tried two tacos: an asada taco and an adobada taco, both priced at $1.76 dollars ($30 pesos).

Adobada Taco

This taco has adobada, guacamole, onion, cilantro, and it is served on a corn tortilla. Before he tried it, Chef Danny said that it had a good size and that the adobada had an "opaque" color, which sometimes means it is lacking in flavor. However, he wished this wasn't case.

When he took his first bite, Chef Danny was quite surprised because he said he had never tasted an adobada like this one, as it was very sour and spicy. He did not know if this was due to the adobo or the salsa, but the "almost cherry-like color" of the meat had caught Danny's attention. He added that though the meat was different, he didn't really like it. The tortilla, despite its big size, was thin, which made it not stand out. This is why this taco gets a rating of 5.6.

Asada Taco

This taco has carne asada, onion, cilantro, huevona salsa, guacamole, and it is served on a handmade corn tortilla. Something to note about this taco is that the meat seemed to have been there for a long time, as it looked very dry.

When he tried it, Chef Danny claimed that the cooking of the protein was perfect for those who like their carne asada "very browned". It also had a good marinade. The salsa's outstanding flavor was tomato, but because it was so juicy it added humidity to the meat. Chef Danny also noticed that the tortilla had been made at this place because it was a little bit thicker and its maize touches were more present. This is why this taco gets a rating of 6.3.
