Stuffed pepper taco by "Super Especial" in Tijuana disappoints for its lack of flavor

Chef Danny also tried a Rib Eye taco with a great size

On this episode of Una Mordida Tacos Tijuana, our host Chef Danny Betancourt went to "Super Especial" located at Av. Centro Comercial 17216, Otay Constituyentes. On this occasion he tried two tacos: a stuffed pepper taco priced at $3.82 dollars ($65 pesos) and a Rib Eye taco priced at $4.11 dollars ($70 pesos).

Rib Eye Taco

This taco has rib eye, beans, avocado, onion, cilantro, salsa, and it is served on a handmade corn tortilla. The first thing to note about this taco is that it had two grilled spring onions, which Chef Danny moved to the side because he claimed it would be awkward to eat them inside the taco.

Something important to note is that the tortilla had a very good size. When he tried it, Chef Danny highlighted that the meat was cut in thin slices, compared to other places where they are normally thicker and it is cut into cubes. In addition, this protein had a good marinade and a very soft texture.

Chef Danny said that he had detected a sweet touch which he later discovered came from the beans. The tortilla also had good thickness, humidity, and maize flavor. This is why this taco gets a rating of 8.4

Price: $4.11 dollars ($70 pesos)

Stuffed Pepper Taco

This taco has a stuffed pepper with Monterrey cheese, tomato salsa (with onion and bell pepper), and an outstanding handmade corn tortilla that had a good size, just like the previous taco.

When Chef Danny took his first bite, the tortilla broke. Despite this, he kept trying it and enjoyed the cheese by itself. Despite it being Monterrey cheese, it was missing a "push" just like the salsa, which was quite subtle. He added that the batter had a good flavor which is why this taco gets a rating of 6.2.

Price: $3.82 dollars ($65 pesos)
