Chorizo tostada with unique mint flavor by "Taco N' Todo" in Tijuana gets an 8.1

Chef Danny also tried an arrachera taco

On this episode of Una Mordida Tacos Tijuana, our host Chef Danny Betancourt went to "Tacos 'N Todo" located at Blvd. Lázaro Cárdenas 602, Otay Constituyentes. On this occasion, he tried two tacos: an arrachera taco priced at $4 dollars ($67 pesos) and a chorizo tostada called "La Lorenza" priced at $3.45 dollars ($57 pesos).

La Lorenza

This dish has chorizo, melted cheese, avocado, tatemada (charred) salsa, and it is served on a corn tostada. Before he tried it, Chef Danny said that the charred salsa looked quite delicious and the tostada was making him drool.

When he took his first bite, Chef Danny claimed that the chorizo had great texture and a very unique and different flavor, which was similar to mint or peppermint. The cheese and the tostada had a good flavor as they were cooked with coal, which made them absorb the smoked flavor. The sauce wasn't spicy at all, which is why this tostada gets a rating of 8.1.

Arrachera Taco

This taco has arrachera, homemade salsa, guacamole, and it is served on a handmade maize tortilla. Two things to note about this taco were the big pieces of arrachera and that the tortillas looked handmade, as they were created and cooked in this place.

At first glance, Chef Danny thought that the salsa was going to be very spicy, however, when he tried it, he discovered it wasn't the case. The tortilla, besides being thick, had very present maize touches. The avocado ended up being half aguamole (guacamole diluted with water) because it didn't have pure flesh. Chef Danny added that he liked that the meat cut was present in big pieces, as it allowed him to taste more the flavor and the coal. The meat was cooked at 3/4 with a lot of juiciness. The charred salsa added a lot of flavor to the taco and this is why it gets a rating of 8.6.
