Delicious tacos by "Tacos Don Esteban" almost tie in Tijuana

Chef Danny tried a "Quesabrosa" and a "taco mix"

On this episode of Una Mordida Tacos Tijuana, our host Chef Danny Betancourt went to "Tacos Don Esteban" located at Av. Sirak Baloyan 1230, Downtown Tijuana. On this occasion, he tried two tacos: a "Quesabrosa" and a "taco mix", both priced at $3.03 dollars ($50 pesos).

“Quesabrosa”

This taco has carne asada, cheese, onion, refried beans, avocado, green salsa, and it is served on a handmade corn tortilla. Chef Danny said that he could detect that the tortilla was handmade in this place due to its texture and the relief on the edges, which meant it was not made in a machine. When he took his first bite, Chef Danny was surprised because he discovered that there were refried beans at the bottom of the taco.

The meat was seasoned with salt and pepper and was cut in a thin New York style slice. It had quite a soft texture and the coal flavor was present in the meat. This is why this taco gets a rating of 8.8.

Price: $3.03 dollars ($50 pesos)

Taco Mix

This taco has carne asada, chorizo, pickled onion with habanero pepper, avocado, refried beans, and it is served on a handmade corn tortilla. Chef Danny highlighted that the tortilla had quite a big size despite it being thin. Something that was interesting for Danny is that they used avocado slices instead of guacamole; this is why he said: "More authentic, impossible!"

When he tried it, Chef Danny said that the chorizo had a good flavor, something that he could see just by simply looking at the color. The texture was very similar to Spanish chorizo as it was very firm and a little bit dry. The meat was lost in this taco, but it did not affect it, because the thin slice was not hard to chew. In addition, there was no skin. This is why this taco gets a rating of 8.9.

Price: $3.03 dollars ($50 pesos)
