Marina del Pilar supports children playing baseball in international competition

The governor of Baja California delivered 100,000 pesos in aid to benefit the team that will represent Baja California and Mexico at the Little League World Series

Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda, the governor of Baja California, delivered 100,000 pesos in economic aid to the winning children of the Municipal Tijuana Baseball League, who managed to overcome the state and national stages to represent Mexico in the Little League World Series that will take place on July 17 and July 27 in Williamsport, USA. This is part of a comprehensive public policy that aims to encourage children to play sports in Baja California.

The governor delivered a symbolic check to the children and expressed that she is proud of watching their athletic development and seeing how they represent not only Tijuana natives and Baja Californians, but all Mexican people. In addition, she emphasized that the government of the president of Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, has promoted sports among young people.

“We know the effort that these trips represent, we know of the effort done by mothers, their parents who take them to practice, so that you always have your complete equipment, your complete uniform, and the efforts carried out by your trainers,” the state governor said in front of the children.

Marina del Pilar recalled the achievements of the previous year and stated that they have already learned what to do in order to achieve the best results in the same tournament, where they were very close to becoming champions in the little leagues, showing that Baja California is a seedbed of talent and represents the best of Mexican sports.

She added that this economic aid’s goal is to lighten up parents’ expenses when traveling to the United States to the competition, and thanked them for encouraging children to play sports as it is an essential key to pull them away from violence and all kinds of antisocial behaviors.

For his part, the head of the Institute of Sports and Physical Culture of Baja California (INDEBC), Erik Morales Elvira, encouraged team members to be motivated and to give their very best to represent not only the state but all of Mexico, pointing out that thanks to their achievements they are already a source of pride for all Baja Californians.
