Birria tostada from “Tacos Arandas” at Colonia Cacho delights in Tijuana

A light birria taco was also tried here

On this episode of Una Mordida Tacos Tijuana, our host Chef Danny Betancourt went to “Tacos Arandas” located at Brasil 8971 Colonia Madero (Cacho). On this occasion he tried a birria tostada and a classic birria taco both priced at $1.2 dollars ($25 pesos).

Birria Taco

This taco has the classic birria taco ingredients since it has a thick cut, onion, cilantro, and is served on two corn tortillas. Before trying it, Chef Danny noticed that the tortillas were not drenched in the birria’s grease, which is why he called it a “light taco”.

Something else he noticed was that the sauce’s color was orange, which he thought meant it wasn’t going to be spicy, something that turned out to be not true when Chef Danny took his first bite. He realized that it had been made with bird beak’s chili pepper. The tortilla was medium-sized and didn’t have a lot of flavor just like the meat, which had quite a soft texture. This is why this taco gets a rating of 6.8.

Price: $1.25 dollars ($25 pesos)

Birria Tostada

This taco has beef birria meat, onion, coriander, salsa, and is served on a toasted corn tortilla. When he took his first bite, Chef Danny stated that the meat had a very light birria and condiment flavor.

Due to this, our host claimed that this birria is ideal for those who don’t like condiments’ strong flavors. The tostada was a plus since the fried tortilla made the maize flavor stand out. Chef Danny added that the meat had a lot of nerve. This is why this tostada gets a rating of 7.1.

Price: $1.25 dollars ($25 pesos)
