Baja Window to the South has shared an endless amount of information regarding Baja California and the different places here. On this episode, they spoke about Tecate, the Magical Town that is located next to the border of Tecate, California (an non-incorporated area of San Diego) that is also a part of the San Diego-Tijuana metropolitan area.
This city is a tourist attraction, known for being home of the Tecate port of entry and Tecate beer. It is the only pueblo mágico (magical town) of Baja California from which one can also travel directly to Valle de Guadalupe.
Tecate is also home to the indigenous Kumiai community, a binational community in Baja California. Among some of the places you can visit in your Tecate tour there are:
- Vallecitos Archeological Zone: Where you can watch ancient cave paintings
- Tecate Brewery: Named after this municipality, has been making beer since 1944
- Miguel Hidalgo Park: This park is one of the must-see areas when visiting Downtown Tecate.
- Tecate Community Museum: A historical and cultural museum that teaches its visitors about the history of Tecate and the Kumiai community
- Rancho La Puerta
- Tecarroca Child Recreational Park
This region’s gastronomy cannot be missed either since there are also several places with great flavors, traditions, and innovations in each of their dishes that will delight all visitors. Among these places there are El Mejor Pan de Tecate, Restaurante Amores, and El Lugar de Nos.
