“Tacos El Güero” in Tecate disappoints due to their small and salty taco

On this occasion, three different tacos were tried

On this episode of Una Mordida Tacos Tecate, our host Chef Danny Betancourt went to “Tacos El Güero” located at Benito Juárez 451, La Hacienda. Here he tried three tacos: an adobada taco, a carne asada taco, and a suadero taco, all priced at $1.3 dollars ($27 pesos).

Suadero Taco

This taco has suadero (beef meat extracted from the area between ribs and skin), grilled onions, green sauce, coriander, and is served on two corn tortillas drenched in meat grease (a surefire proof of flavor, according to the chef). When he gave his first bite, Danny confirmed this since the tortilla was very soft due to being heated on the same skillet as the grease. However, its size was too small and the tortilla too thin which made the maize flavor very incomplete.

On the other hand, the suadero taste was quite present and it was well seasoned. In combination with the grilled onion cooked in the meat grease and the not-so-spicy green sauce made it a good taco. This is why it gets a rating of 8.3.

Carne Asada Taco

This taco has carne asada (grilled meat), onion, coriander, huevona sauce (tomato, jalapeño, and onion all blended raw), avocado, and is served on two handmade tortillas. The first thing Chef Danny noticed was the tortillas’ flavor, since one could feel the maize due to their size and thickness.

Chef Danny thought at first that the meat was going to be hard, but when he tried it he realized that it was juicy and he was able to taste the coal flavor of when it was grilled. With each bite he was able to determine all ingredients. The only bad thing about this taco was that the avocado was watery guacamole, which is why it gets a rating of 7.9.

Adobada Taco

The first thing that Chef Danny noticed about this taco was its size since their packaged tortillas were quite small. This taco has adobada meat, watery guacamole, sauce, onion, and coriander. The meat was cut into cubes which our host noticed; he thinks that the protein came from the stick, was cut into cubes, and then griddled.

The pieces cut this way means that the taste of the meat and grease is different, as opposed to when they are directly cut from the stick and served on the taco. Danny said that the taco was too salty and its protein too small which is why it gets a rating of 6.3.
