A foundation wants to change the image of the city of Tijuana with a large project that will seek to reforest the sideways of Via Rapida by planting more than 2,500 jacaranda trees.

The jacarandas are trees whose flowers give a colorful violet spectacle.

Many of these trees are concentrated in Zona Rio of Tijuana, so during the time they flower you can see a great landscape with a purple explosion through the main streets.

And it's just what the Inspira B.C. Foundation is looking to do with "Frontera Violeta," or "Violet Border", an ambitious project that it was known through its social media.

Through donations they'll seek to collect more than 2,000 trees and plant them along the most used highway in Tijuana, the Via Rapida, to create a new image and help improve air quality.
