On this episode of Una Mordida Tacos Tijuana, our host Chef Danny Betancourt went to "C-Biche" located at Av. Gobernador Balarezo 9889, America, 22044. On this occasion, he tried two tacos: a fish chicharron taco priced at $2.23 dollars ($55 pesos) and an al pastor shrimp taco priced at $4.11 dollars ($70 pesos).
Taco Hawaii
This taco has shrimp with adobo, pineapple, cheese, caramelized onion, and it is served on a white corn tortilla. Before he tried it, Chef Danny said that the shrimps were covered in adobo and when he grabbed it, the taco felt heavy.
When he took his first bite, a great string came to be due to the huge amount of grilled cheese that it had. Chef Danny said that he could detect traces of pineapple and chili peppers in the adobo. The thing that stood out the most was the sweetness of the pineapples in syrup. The shrimps had a small size, but a strong flavor. The star of this taco, however, was the cheese and Chef Danny said that it would have been better if the tortilla had been browned or if it had been a flour tortilla. This is why this taco gets a rating of 7.8.
Price: $4.11 dollars ($70 pesos)
Fish Chicharron Taco
This taco has pico de gallo, fish chicharron, cabbage, cream, cheese, and it is served on a white corn tortilla. Before he took his first bite, Chef Danny said that this taco's tortilla looked more browned than usual.
When he tried it, Chef Danny said that it was missing cheese, either because they didn’t put in a huge amount or because they were using another kind. This along with the pico de gallo and a cream with spices, made the taco overwhelming. The chicharron did not stand out in this taco, but when Chef Danny tried it by itself, he was able to detect it. He also said that the tortilla "tricked him" because it wasn't that fried and it felt dry. This is why this taco gets a rating of 7.2.
Price: $2.23 dollars ($55 pesos)
