“Tacos El Yaqui” in Rosarito gets a rating of 9 for their superb flour tortillas

Chef Danny tried a carne asada taco and the popular “Taco Perrón”

On this episode of Una Mordida Tacos Rosarito, our host Chef Danny Betancourt went to “Tacos El Yaqui” located at Mar del Nte. #115 12, Zona Centro, 22700. On this occasion he tried two tacos: a carne asada taco priced at $2.63 dollars ($50 pesos) and a “Perrón” taco priced at $3.15 dollars ($60 pesos).

Taco Perrón

This taco has carne asada (grilled beef), onion, coriander, beans, guacamole, cheese, and is served on a flour tortilla. The first thing to highlight about this taco is the flour tortilla’s great size, which seems to have been made at this establishment due to its thickness.

When he tried it, Chef Danny claimed that the saltiness level was balanced very well. In the meat, one can taste the smoked flavor from the firewood in which it was cooked, though Chef Danny would have preferred if it was a little bit more juicy, as it felt a little dry. The cheese invaded the ingredients and the guacamole was lightly diluted, but not to the point that it became aguamole. The ingredient that surprised our host was the tortilla due its great butter flavor which did not overwhelm the palate, saying that it was “superb”. The beans and the salsa (which wasn’t spicy) added a good contrast. This is why this taco gets a rating of 8.6.

Price: $3.15 dollars ($60 pesos)

Asada Taco

This taco has carne asada, onion, cilantro, guacamole, sauce, beans, and is served on a flour tortilla. Something to note about this taco is that the meat was cut in a considerable size so as to appreciate the flavor. However, it was still dry, but the smoked flavor still stands out.

The thing Chef Danny liked more about this taco is that it didn’t have cheese which allowed him to taste the meat, vegetables, beans, salsa, and, above all, the tortilla, which was the star of this afternoon. He claimed it would have been ideal if the guacamole had been made only with avocado flesh, without it being diluted. This is why this taco gets a rating of 9.0.

Price: $2.63 dollars ($50 pesos)
