In this episode of Una Mordida Tacos Rosarito, our host, Chef Danny Betancourt went to Taco Urbano, located at Circuito Vista Alegre 104, 22707. This time he tried two tacos: a shrimp taco with peanut sauce priced at $2.25 dollars ($45 pesos) and a spicy octopus taco priced at $3.25 dollars ($65 pesos).
Shrimp Taco with Peanut Sauce
This taco has shrimp, peanut sauce, purple onion, cabbage, sour cream, a crust of grilled cheese, and is served in two white corn tortillas. The tortillas have a good size, not being too small, and when he took his first bite, Chef Danny said that the taco has a very interesting flavor due to the intensity of the butter used when preparing the shrimp.
Something to be noted is that this taco has whole peanuts which create certain “obstacles” regarding flavor and texture. The butter’s fat helped the tortilla to be drenched in flavor and give it a crunchier texture. Chef Danny would have loved the onion to be pickled to give the taco a little bit of acidity but, despite this, this taco gets a rating of 7.9.
Price: $2.25 dollars ($45 pesos)
Spicy Octopus Taco
This taco has spicy octopus, purple onion, cabbage, sour cream, a crust of grilled cheese, and is served in two white corn tortillas, like the previous one. The first thing our host noticed is that the tortilla crunched at first bite which creates a good texture contrast.
The octopus flavor as well as the sauce were felt, which is not as spicy as expected compared to its color. The cheese also created a good flavor contrast. The only negative point is that the octopus was a little undercooked which is why this taco gets a rating of 7.3.
Price: $3.25 dollars ($65 pesos)
