From Tijuana! Las Ahumaderas will open establishment in San Diego on Thursday

Authentic Tijuana flavor will arrive in Chula Vista

Las Ahumaderas in Tijuana is one of the most famous and renowned areas in the city, as one can find 4 different taquerias all in one place. These places have been open since 1960. This restaurant is so popular that it is ready to reach the south of San Diego County.

Something to note is that this establishment started to acquire worldwide attention when it was featured in an episode of the TV show "No Reservations" with Anthony Bourdain. The owners of two taquerias at "Las Ahumaderas", Tacos El Poblano and Las Quince Letras, stated that they will repeat the experience of this area in San Diego.

After two years in development, Pedro and Claudia Rodríguez from Chula Vista stated that they are ready to open a space with a modernized vision.

This is what the couple said:

Originally, everything began at the end of the 1960s with my family, my father and his siblings working at Las Ahumaderas. My uncle Reynaldo Rodríguez opened a space called Tacos El Rey alongside Las Quince Letras who was owned by my uncle Guadalupe Rodríguez. Years later, in 1974, Tacos El Poblano was opened by the Rodríguez brothers and since then, the family business has been growing. Now my wife and I are proud to honor Las Ahumaderas, the original Tijuana taco, here in Chula Vista.

What will be offered by Las Ahumaderas in San Diego?

A vast array of dishes such as tacos, tortas, mulitas, vampiros, quesadillas, and burritos with carne asada, adobada, and beef birria, tongue, and head options.

In addition, they said that they will offer beers and sodas and that there will be a stand that will sell corn, Tijuana-style hot dogs, nachos, and other dishes. This restaurant will be open on Thursday, December 27 at 1011 Broadway in Chula Vista in southern San Diego.
