Festival del Pescado y Marisco will arrive in Rosarito to delight local and foreign palates

On August 6, residents and foreigners will be able to enjoy delicious seafood dishes at Hotel Rosarito

Carrying on a 3-decade tradition and raising awareness of one of Baja California’s most important sectors, the 31st edition of Festival del Pescado y Marisco (Fish and Seafood Festival) will arrive in Playas de Rosarito.

This event was organized by the National Chamber of the Restaurant and Seasoned Food Industry (CANIRAC) alongside the Committee of Tourism and Conventions (COTUCO), both from Rosarito.

On Sunday, August 6, the gardens in Rosarito Beach Hotel will be full of stands of 20 fish and seafood restaurants and producers of Baja California. Visitors of the Cali-Baja region will be able to try delicious dishes based on sea products such as shrimp, oysters, tuna, clams, lobsters, among others.

One of the most interesting events here is a competition where the public can vote on their favorite dish. The president of CANIRAC Rosarito, Alan Bautista Plascencia, explained that through a raffle, they will pair up restaurants with an ingredient and they will have to create a creative and delicious dish idea for palates.

Visitors will be able to vote for their favorite dish with the Donde Comer app, available for all smartphones, from 1 PM to 4 PM. After that, people will be able to start trying out food and general sales will be open to the public until 10 PM.

In addition, ten wineries of the region will participate.

Several artistic performances will take place which will include live music shows, folklore dancing, and the headline performance by TJ 5.

The Subsecretary of Tourism of Baja California, José Quiñonez Ramírez, stated that 32% of Baja Californian visitors come here to consume regional food and drinks, which is why these events are a great occasion.

For her part, the Secretary of Fishing and Aquaculture of Baja California, Alma Rosa García Juárez, highlighted that Baja California produces more than 200,000 yearly tons of fishing and aquatic products of the highest quality.

She added that 180 marine species are caught in the state and 9 others are commercially bred. She said that there are many species that are caught here but are consumed in other parts of the world such as Asia and Europe.

She explained that there are more than 80 aquatic production units and more than 530 fishing production units in Baja California, of which, 26 of them are in Playas de Rosarito.

In addition, part of the funds obtained at this event will be allocated to help Fundación Bebé Cardio AC, which helps children with heart issues who don’t have the resources to be treated.

The 2023 Festival del Pescado y Marisco will take place on Sunday, August 6 at the Rosarito Beach Hotel (Hotel Rosarito) gardens from 1 PM to 10 PM.

Presale admission tickets cost $500 pesos ($29 dollars) and give you the right to enjoy 10 gastronomic samples made by participating restaurants and 5 wine samples, as well as the right to enjoy the show in a great environment.
