“Taqueria Los Arcos” in Tecate fails for serving their tacos on packaged tortillas

Our host would have preferred handmade or thicker tortillas

On this episode of Una Mordida Tacos Tecate, our host, Chef Danny Betancourt went to “Taquería Los Arcos”, located at Pdte. Pascual Ortiz Rubio Zona Centro, a few steps away from Tecate’s Municipal Palace. On this occasion, he tried two tacos: an adobada taco priced at $1 dollar ($20 pesos) and a carne asada taco priced at $1.20 dollars ($23 pesos).

Adobada Taco

This taco has adobada meat (with a very good, deep-fried color), onions, coriander, guacamole, bird beak’s chile sauce and is served on two corn packaged tortillas. The sauce, which is normally quite spicy, did not feel that spicy on this occasion and one could even feel the taste of the tomatoes.

The adobada had a very good flavor as its color indicated. Also, the taco had chambray onions and a grilled pepper, which is not something common in taquerias. Its guacamole had pure avocado flesh which means it wasn’t watery guacamole which really helped this taco. This is why this taco gets a rating of 7.7.

Price: $1 dollar ($20 pesos)

Carne Asada Taco

This taco has carne asada (grilled meat), onions, coriander, guacamole, red sauce and is served on two corn package tortillas, like the previous taco. The taco’s sauce was spicier than the last one; when Chef Danny took his first bite, he noticed its intensity.

The meat had some citric-like flavors because it was marinated, but it was too intense. The coal and smoked flavors were felt with every bite. The only bad thing about this taco was the tortillas which needed to be thicker or handmade. This is why this taco gets a rating of 7.6.

Price: $1.20 dollars ($23 pesos)
