To celebrate Taco Day in Mexico, on Thursday March 31, we have compiled a list of the 10 best tacos in Tijuana previously shown in “Una Mordida Tacos Tijuana.”
To create this list we watched the 93 episodes of the second season of “Una Mordida Tacos Tijuana”, where Chef Danny Betancourt traveled to all corners of the city to taste more than 100 asada, adobada, seafood, tripe, tongue, chorizo, and more tacos in 54 taquerias.
We will also add at the end of each ranking the location of these taquerias so you can enjoy the best tacos of the city!
The 10 best tacos of Tijuana: “Una Mordida Tacos Tijuana”
10. Flour Quesabirria at “Tacos El Flaco de Oro” – Episode 57
Price: $4.25 dollars ($85 pesos)
Chef Danny’s initial impression was a surprise because of the size of the quesabirria and the abundance of meat and supplementary ingredients, such as beans and mozzarella cheese.

9. Pork Belly Taco at “3 Desertos” – Episode 55
Price: $4.5 dollars ($90 pesos)
3 Desertos is the only taqueria with two places in this list, the first one in ninth place with its pork belly tacos.
Chef Betancourt was fascinated by the taco’s bittersweet “spicy” sauce, highlighting the red onion on top of the taco offering an exquisite combination to any palate. The pork belly’s soft texture was a big plus, pleasantly surprising the chef.

8. Arrachera Taco at “Tacos El Vaquero” – Episode 46
Price: $3.77 dollars ($75 pesos)
The flour tortilla was key for Chef Betancourt to fall in love with this taco, highlighting the intensity of its flavors which allowed for a perfect combination between the meat and the chimichurri.
Although the watery guacamole did not convince the chef, the meat’s cooking met his expectations.

7. Al Pastor Shrimp and Octopus Taco at “Kraken Marisquería” – Episode 35
Price: $2.50 dollars ($50 pesos)
When he saw the taco, Chef Danny highlighted its details and presentation. It has al pastor octopus and shrimp, au gratin cheese, coriander, purple onion, coriander sauce, and a double yellow deep-fried tortilla.
Chef Danny stated that the combination of all elements is pretty good. Though it’s a little salty, a few drops of lime were able to fix this problem.

6. Suadero Taco at “Taquería Mi Casa” – Episode 22
Price: $26 pesos ($1.25 dlls)
This was the first taco given to Chef Danny in this episode and it has the suadero meat, onion, coriander, and is served on a packaged tortilla. Danny also decided to put some green Mexican husk tomato sauce and charred jalapeño peppers.
The sauce gave a spectacular spicy touch to this taco, with the meat being cooked just perfectly since it wasn’t overcooked or hard, and had a lot of flavor.

5. Cachetona Taco at “Birria El Buchito" – Episode 06
Price: $3.77 dollars ($75 pesos)
The main ingredient in this taco is birria and pork rind, as well as coriander, au gratin cheese, and a double corn tortilla. Something peculiar about this taco is that it has the size of two or three tacos together. “Check out the size,” said Chef Betancourt, who also added that the meat was very soft.

4. Wagyu Meat Taco at “3 Desertos” – Episode 55
Price: $15 dollars ($300 pesos)
The 3 Desertos specialty, the Wagyu meat taco ranks 4th in this list. This taco characteristically has Wagyu meat which is prepared by having a authentication certificate, since the meat is sent from Japan. This helps to explain this taco’s high price.
The taco sticks out quickly because of how soft the Wagyu meat is, being very similar to the texture of butter. Even Chef Betancourt joked about this: “I struggled more biting the tortilla than the meat.”

3. Pork Rind Taco at “Tacos a Vapor Cucapáh” – Episode 30
Price: $1 dollar ($20 pesos)
Although people are used to steamed meat and potatoes tacos, some places offer something else and such is the case with this taqueria. "Tacos a Vapor Cucapáh" has a pork rind steamed taco that delighted Chef Betancourt with its dry chili pepper adobo.
This is why this pork rind taco gets a bronze medal, being a perfect option to try if you are looking to try something different than usual.

2. Chihuahua Taco at “Tacos Chihuahuas Y Perrones De La Mesa” – Episode 52
Price: $2 dollars ($40 pesos)
Chef Betancourt tried an asada taco with flour tortilla cooked in firewood to which he gave a high rating.
He noticed quickly the soft texture of the meat, the sauce’s flavor, and the flour handmade tortilla. With all these ingredients, this Chihuahua taco gets the silver medal, being one of the best tacos in the city.

1. Duck Taco at “Musmón” - Episode 29
Price: $3.25 dollars ($65 pesos)
Exotic and unusual tacos were the highest rated tacos this season and the gold medal goes to the duck taco at Musmón. The protein is marinated in soy sauce and is served with an orange sauce with chiltepin pepper.
Chef Betancourt’s expression said it all. He was fascinated by the exquisite combination of ingredients and this is why this duck taco is the best taco in the history of "Una Mordida Tacos Tijuana".
