If we are talking about gastronomic variety, Mexican food is queen and if you don't trust us, believe Larousse Cocina, who elaborated a new gastronomic guide of the 120 most famous Mexican restaurants in the country, 12 of them located in Baja California stand out.
The sixth edition of the ''Guía México Gastronómico, Los 120 Restaurantes 2021 de Culinaria Mexicana'', elaborated by S. Pellegrino and Nespresso, recognized Baja California as one of the most important gastronomic regions in recent years at a national level.
Among the sectors taken into account to recognize the establishments on the list were service, quality in food preparation and community involvement, as well as facilities and project continuity.
In Tijuana, the restaurants recognized were Caesar's, Casa Tijuana, Georgina and Misión 19, while for Ensenada and Valle de Guadalupe, the names Animalón, Deckman's en el Mogor, Fauna, Finca Altozano, Villa Torél, Madre, Manzanilla and Sabina Restaurante por la Guerrerense, were the most outstanding. The distinctions were announced through an online event.
Chefs Benito Molina and Solange Muris, received a special recognition as characters of the year, but they were not the only food professionals to be mentioned during the event, as Javier Plascensia, David Castro Hussong, Maribel Aldaco Adria Montaño, Juan Cabrera, Miguel Bahena, Carolina Verdugo, Drew Deckman, Alfredo Villanueva and Sabina Bandera, also had their deserved mention during the event.
Previously, Baja California was an entity that was more known for its industry than its gastronomy, but it seems that the current panorama has taken a 180-degree turn, since in recent years the culinary art of the region, together with the professional chefs who live there, have managed to put the state in a high position in this field.
The Secretariat of Sustainable Economy and Tourism of Baja California joined the celebrations for this great economic achievement, without forgetting to invite people from all over the world, in addition to Baja California residents, to enjoy these restaurants in the near future.
