"Corazones Viajeros" program by Marina del Pilar administration nominated for ISTO Awards 2024

The winner will be selected at the International Social Tourism Organisation in San José, Costa Rica

The "Corazones Viajeros" social program, promoted by the government led by Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda through the Secretariat of Tourism, has been nominated by the International Social Tourism Organisation for the ISTO Awards 2024, which recognize the excellence in programs and projects dedicated to tourism.

Governor Marina del Pilar stressed that this nomination highlights the efforts that her administration has carried out so that everyone visits this state and discovers the kindness and tourism destinations of Baja California.

"This program represents a firm commitment by the state government to equal access to the state's tourism heritage. With this we are looking to guarantee that all Baja Californians can enjoy the natural, historic, and cultural wonders that our region offers," the state governor said.

"Corazones Viajeros" was nominated in the "Initiatives from Destinations" category, which recognizes the excellence of programs launched by members of this organization. In this edition, social tourism projects from countries like Spain and Portugal will also be competing.

This program is part of the Sectorial Tourism Program 2022-2027 whose goal is to consolidate Baja California as a leading destination in responsible tourism.

Miguel Aguíñiga Rodríguez, Secretary of Tourism, said: "The nomination of the "Corazones Viajeros" program strengthens our commitment with a kind of tourism that not only boosts the economy, but also generates a positive impact in all Baja Californians. That's why, we will continue to promote the sustainable, supportive, and accessible tourism development of Baja California that honors our traditions and strengthens our communities."

The winner will be chosen and awarded at the International Social Tourism Organisation in San José, Costa Rica from October 21 to October 25. At this event, the most innovative social tourism projects will be featured, including "Corazones Viajeros".
