The government of Baja California recognized the Municipal Administration of Tijuana led by mayor Montserrat Caballero Ramírez as the municipality ranked first place statewide regarding results obtained on gendered violence alerts.
"All Municipal Administrations are doing their own thing at their own pace, however, the state government has recognized that the Municipal Administration of Tijuana is the one with the most progress, because our intention is to contribute so that the level of the violence alert goes even higher," the head of the Municipal Women's Institute (IMMUJER), Tanya Mota Alvarado, said.
The implementation of several measures to protect and safeguard the women of Tijuana was possible thanks to joint work between IMMUJER and agencies such as the Comprehensive Family Development System (SDIF), the Treasury, the Secretariat of Municipal Security and Citizen Protection (SSPCM), among others.
As part of its yearly report, this institute highlights 13 measures that were carried out in order to prevent gender violence and assist women who were victims of this social issue.
Through the Comprehensive Program to Prevent, Assist, Sanction, and Eradicate Violence Against Women (PIPASE), the Municipal Administration of Tijuana has identified zones in the city where the highest level of gendered violence is registered which are the areas they are most involved in and are a priority.
The official said that the Municipal Administration of Tijuana has been the one showing the greatest number of records to the National Bank of Data and Information about Violent Cases Against Women (BANAVIM) which creates unique electronic files for each woman who has undergone violence, safekeeping the personal information compiled by the involved agencies.
Soon, the project "Buzón Morado" will be launched and its goal is that Tijuana natives learn about their rights in their workspaces and if they have any questions they can deposit them at this mailbox so that it can be answered by an agency.
In addition, the actions of the program "Territorio Morado" continue through which they created women committees in the nine delegations to strengthen work plans to benefit Tijuana native women.
Plus, Tijuana continues being the municipality with the greatest number of Orange Spots nationwide with around 616 establishments, including businesses, schools, and government offices, involved in this program in order to provide protection and safety to the women and girls of Tijuana.
