Following the agreement made between mayor Montserrat Caballero Ramírez and US ambassador in Mexico, Ken Salazar, the Municipal Police of Tijuana has intensified its actions to assist the migrant community. This has been topped off with saving a family of Mexican migrants who lost their way and went missing trying to cross the border.

On Saturday morning, the Municipal Police addressed a report of a family that had been lost in a mountain, which is why a search operation was immediately deployed in the area.

Minutes later, police agents managed to find a couple with their children, all of them less than 10 years old, who were trying to cross into the United States through a mountain.

The agents quickly provided them with support, making sure that they were in good condition and offered them water. They were later moved to a safe area where they received medical assistance and legal guidance.

These actions are taken after a meeting took place last Thursday between mayor Montserrat Caballero Ramírez and US ambassador in Mexico, Ken Salazar, where they agreed to strengthen and improve actions to benefit people who are currently moving locations and their families that are arriving at the border, consolidating Tijuana as a city for everyone.

Among goals shared, they also agreed to continue public information and transparency policies so that the migrant population arriving in Tijuana receives prompt and safe guidance regarding legal matters, migration processes, medical and psychological assistance, temporary shelters, among others.

The 24th Municipal Administration of Tijuana, through the Secretariat of Municipal Security and Citizen Protection, calls on people to not expose themselves to situations where they could risk their or their family's lives. In addition, they also invite them to download the mobile apps "Botón de Emergencia" and "Botón Morado" in case they need help from this agency.
