Café Tacvba and Inspector will be the headliners at this event full of surprises

The Cheve y Taco (Beer and Taco) festival will have its first edition at the terrace of Plaza Monumental in Playas de Tijuana on July 15, with the participation of two famous Latin American rock bands Café Tacvba and Inspector.

The goal is to bring together 45 taquerias of Tijuana, Tecate, and Ensenada that will offer a wide variety of tacos from traditional carne asada and adobada tacos to seafood, varied, and steamed tacos. With this festival, one of the most important questions among these 3 municipalities will be answered: who has the best tacos of the region? The taqueria of the winner city will win a trophy and a cash prize.

In addition, you will be able to enjoy craft beer from 20 regional establishments that will be present, which you will able to enjoy with the event’s commemorative cup of glass that will be given as a gift at the entrance when showing your admission ticket.

Among scheduled activities from 10 AM to 2 PM there are a lucha libre show that will last around 1 hour and a car show for car enthusiasts. Local rock bands will start playing at 4 PM. At 10 PM, Inspector will perform while Café Tacvba will close the event performing at 2 AM.

Official presale tickets are available which start at $500 pesos for general tickets and $1,650 pesos for VIP tickets. Those interested in the lucha libre show will be able to pay to attend for only $300 pesos. Children 4 years old or younger can get in for free.

People will need to carry scanner bands of 3 different colors so as to recognize the acquired ticket and to be able to distinguish adults for alcohol sales. The festival is open to all public and according to Lic. Juan Coronado Ruíz, Director of the Committee of Tourism and Conventions of Tijuana "it will be a spectacular show for everyone."

The event’s official promoter Lic. Erick Lizárraga Pedroza of company Trilogy Events stated that he plans to hire free transportation to this event for the general audience with departure points and arrival points at Downtown and the pedestrian San Ysidro port of entry, so as to avoid parking complications for attendants and create earnings for transporters.

According to Lic. Lizárraga, there has been a good response regarding the marketing of this event on social media. It has been planned that this event takes place once a year in the city so it can become an international festival, an important precedent for cultural and tourist activities in Tijuana. “It’s going to be the bomb!”, he added.
