The governor of Baja California, Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda, led the delivery of units for the “Última Milla” program as well as the demonstration of the “Vectores” protocols, a program that fights against pathologies derived from bacteria and infections. Both programs’ goal is to guarantee the supply of medications in all the health units in the state and maintain control of diseases in communities.
During this event which took place at the health center of Fraccionamiento Urbi Villa del Prado in southeastern Tijuana, the governor emphasized that 13 units of the Secretariat of Health of Baja California were delivered, all of which will be used to transfer, alongside the Government of Mexico, the medications that the several health units of Baja California need.
In addition, Marina del Pilar emphasized the delivery of the Vectores program equipment that is being carried out permanently, fumigation actions, and coordination with families to eliminate proliferation of risk factors of diseases such as rickettsiosis and chikungunya.
As part of her activities, the governor toured the Health Center of Urbi Villa del Prado, and supervised firsthand the functioning of the mobile health units that delivered free medical assistance to families, from consultations to several different tests.
“These programs help us to control diseases and to safeguard the life and health of the citizens of Baja California and Tijuana. We will keep working in coordination with the federal government to provide a better health system for everyone,” Governor Marina del Pilar said.
For his part, the Secretary of Health of Baja California, J. Adrián Medina Amarillas, stated that it has been possible to update the equipment of the Vectores programs, which has allowed Baja California to be free of several diseases such as malaria, dengue, chikungunya, zika, among others. The state official stated that these actions are especially carried out in this area of Tijuana, as in the last few years there has been a noticeable population growth, which directly increases the need of several different health programs.
