Marina del Pilar offers free legal assistance to the women of Baja California

The Governor of Baja California is providing judicial protection to women who are victims of violence

One of the main priorities of Governor Marina del Pilar during her administration has been to give support to those who need it the most. As such, through the “Ventanilla Violeta” (Violet Booth) program of the Judicial Ministry of the state, the governor has offered free legal assistance to the women of Baja California, especially those who have been victims of violence.

Marina del Pilar will provide comprehensive assistance to all women who have been victims of violence as they will be listened to, advised, and forwarded to the government agencies and civil associations with which the state government works hand in hand with.

Marina del Pilar highlighted a greatly relevant legal program that will offer guidance to women and victims regarding their rights and, at the same time, represent them effectively before the Judicial Branch of Baja California on family and civil matters.

For his part, the Judicial Counselor of Baja California, Juan José Pon Méndez, explained that this strategy is being strengthened with the permanent training that public defenders receive regarding gender matters. With this, specialized and qualified assistance is achieved and that way they can have a better reading of the dynamics of violence that occur.

The state official pointed out that this program was an initiative by the Public Ombudsman of Baja California and, since it was applied, actions have been carried out in the state to detect more victims of violence and provide them the necessary assistance, following instructions by Governor Marina del Pilar regarding women and girls of Baja California, aiming for the eradication of gendered violence.

It should be noted that there are currently three violet booths in the state in the municipalities of Tijuana, Mexicali, and Ensenada. Soon, they will be set up in Tecate, San Felipe, and San Quintin in order to expand this assistance model.
