Adobada by “El Poblano” in Rosarito surprises due to its Baja California style flavor

There were two ingredients that did not help this taco at all

On this episode of Una Mordida Tacos Rosarito, our host Chef Danny Betancourt went to “El Poblano” located at Carretera Libre Tijuana Km. 20.5, Plan Libertador. On this occasion he tried two tacos: a carne asada taco and an adobada taco, both priced at $1.42 dollars ($27 pesos).

Carne Asada Taco

This taco has carne asada (grilled beef), onion, cilantro, aguamole (guacamole diluted with too much water), green salsa, and is served on a packaged corn tortilla. When he tried it, the first thing that surprised Chef Danny was the salsa which had Mexican husk tomato and jalapeño pepper.

The avocado used ended up being aguamole. In the meat, Chef Danny could taste the marinade which had some sweet orange touches. Besides the taste of coal, the meat cut was somewhat thick, but its consistency was soft which demonstrated that it was cooked well. The tortilla had a chewy and dry texture, which Chef Danny did not really like. This is why this taco gets a rating of 7.1.

Adobada Taco

This taco has adobada, onion, coriander, guacamole, and is served on two packaged corn tortillas. The first thing to note about this taco is that the adobada meat had an intense red color and that it was more stuffed as, despite the fact that it had practically the same ingredients, there was a greater amount of them in this taco than in the asada taco.

The meat’s color was a sign of its good flavor, as Chef Danny was able to identify the achiote as well as other condiments. The flavor wasn’t particularly sweet which means, according to Danny, it was a Baja California style adobada. Two bad things about this taco were the tortillas and the aguamole, which did not help the flavor stand out at all. This is why this taco gets a rating of 7.9.

Price: $1.42 dollars ($27 pesos)
