From December 21 to December 29, 2022, Ranking No. 34, where they measure the performance of all governors of Mexico, took place.
The list consisted of 31 states, excluding the state of Puebla, due to the recent death of governor Miguel Barbosa, who, in his last ranking, was placed on 7th place. His successor Sergio Salomón was not evaluated in this edition.
This ranking is led by PAN member Mauricio Vila Dosal, of the state of Yucatan, and measures progress regarding matters of security, work to eliminate poverty, job creation, state finance management, and public official skills.
The governor of Baja California, Marina del Pilar was placed in 2nd place with an approval rating of 57.3%, as she has distinguished herself as one of the governors of Mexico with the best public perception from her people. Since the beginning of her administration, Marina del Pilar has earned the support of Baja Californians thanks to her constant work regarding health, wellness, security, and crime fighting matters, as well as her closeness to people, something which didn’t use to happen with previous administrations.
Due to Baja California’s disastrous previous administrations, the economy of the state was jeopardized with a series of illegal actions and the state’s justice systems and state security were weakened. This made Baja California, in just 10 years, one of Mexico’s most dangerous states, and set the stage for numerous challenges that the new administration led by Marina del Pilar had to handle.
However, Governor Marina del Pilar, (the first female governor in the history of Baja California), has created an image of herself as a committed and transparent woman. One of the most significant moments of her administration was the hard work that she has carried out even when she was pregnant. Another fundamental event that occurred sduring her government was paying off the historic debt that the state had with the teacher’s union.
Regarding security matters, the situation has been complicated due to the control that previous organized crime groups had in previous administrations. However, there has been a constant fight against these criminal groups in order to bring back safety to Baja Californians. Since Marina del Pilar took office of the state administration, violence has decreased considerably.
Regarding health matters, there are several new projects whose goal is to provide people with a healthy life in the state of Baja California. For example, there’s the new General Hospital that will be built in the eastern zone of Tijuana and will assist more than 750,000 inhabitants.
The results that, month after month, have placed Governor Marina del Pilar as one of the best state representatives of Mexico are not a coincidence, but the result of her constant work as a public servant.
