Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda, governor of Baja California, announced the construction of a new General Hospital that will be located in the eastern zone of the municipality of Tijuana, which will treat more than 750,000 residents of the area, as a response to one of the sectors with the highest populational growth in the state.
It should be noted that, once this hospital begins operations, it will reduce pressure at the current General Hospital, which is currently handling the city’s demands.
During the 57th edition of “Wednesday Morning Press Conference with Marina del Pilar”, the governor pointed out that since the first day of her administration she has worked to guarantee the rights of all people, with one of the main ones being their right to healthcare.
Marina del Pilar highlighted that, in contrast with previous administrations, her administration is developing actions to build opportunities in favor of all groups in society who were forgotten for decades.
She also explained that a city like Tijuana, which is the home of 2 million people, requires work and a plan in order to guarantee all of the services that are handled by the state, especially public health.
She gave as an example the development of an oncological center in the city of Tijuana which has consultation offices, a main office to prepare chemotherapies and areas for their application, and mammogram equipment, with specialized personnel to treat oncological patients.
For his part, the Secretary of Health of Baja California, J. Adrián Medina Amarillas, revealed information about the opening of the Health Center at Colonia Villas del Prado, a demand by neighbors noted and resolved by state authorities.
Regarding the General Hospital in the Eastern Zone, Governor Marina del Pilar pointed out that, with it, the project to have a second level unit to bring hospitalization services closer to the people has been consolidated.
“With this hospital we will have 60 available beds, and we will be able to treat patients in traumatology and orthopedics, gynecology-obstetrician services, internal medicine, pediatrics, surgery, and emergencies,” the governor said.
At this hospital the three levels will provide intensive care services both for adults and newborns, and they will also have external consultation services and rooms for labor, births, and recovery in order to guarantee dignified labor.
The governor highlighted the permanent support by the President of Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obrador for allocating the necessary federal investment to conclude the medical infrastructure projects in the key communities of the state.
“This project is also a concrete example of the commitment that we made with the inhabitants of the eastern zone, to boost the development of high-quality services in all of Tijuana, not in some areas of the city as it used to happen before,” the governor said, who also spoke about the progress made during the first 14 months of her administration.
