Marina del Pilar promotes better conditions for Baja Californian workers

The governor increased profit share payments and initiated a work system that gives priority to the wellbeing of the working sector

The governor of Baja California Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda pointed out that the $2,764 billion pesos of the past administration have been exceeded with $5,169 billion pesos to strengthen the labor justice model that promotes conditional improvements for all workers, increasing profit share payments of 2022 by 87%.

During the 54th edition of “Wednesday Morning Press Conference with Marina del Pilar” which took place in Tijuana, the governor emphasized that the Fourth Transformation has as a priority to build a fairer Mexico where workers can achieve their wellbeing.

“In Baja California, with support from the President of Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obrador and thanks to his political vision of transformation we have achieved historic changes that have allowed us to improve the conditions of thousands of families. We are now first place in increasing the minimum wage from $88.36 to $260.30 pesos,” she stated.

Regarding the new Labor Justice model which initiated in Baja California, the governor emphasized that this procedure is now faster and fairer, eradicating the detrimental vices of the neoliberal system. This work is being carried out through the Secretariat of Work and Social Welfare of Baja California.

This public policy prioritizes dialogue to resolve conflicts and includes gender perspective and human rights, which means that there is progress being made to develop a state free of any kind of discrimination.

Regarding the opening of the five headquarters of the Labor Conciliation Center in Mexicali, Tecate, Tijuana, Ensenada, and San Quintin, 13,480 cases have been handled, of which, 6,977 already have a confirmed hearing. In addition, more than 3,660 agreements have been made through hearings and prior arrangements, giving it an efficiency of 75.3%.

“We work with our heart above all to achieve, in just 6 months, the implementation of this new model, finalizing the creation of the Labor Conciliation Centers of Baja California,” she said.

Regarding federal matters, Marina del Pilar spoke about the historic increase in vacation days in our country, as well as the minimum wage increase that will allow it to rise more than 100% in this presidential six-year term. This measure is emblematic of the values and principles of the Fourth Transformation.

Lastly, Marina del Pilar pointed out that, with the arrival of Christmas bonus payments in the coming days, STPS will make sure that these benefits are paid in time before December 20, which is the deadline according to current law; the governor expressed her solidarity with all state employees.
