Baja Californian gastronomy is not only about strong dishes such as tacos or seafood, but also delicious dishes such as desserts, one of the region’s strongest suits. A proof of this is El Lugar de Nos, a restaurant in Tecate led by chefs Denise Adriana Rosa and Mariela Manzano.

Scott Koenig went to this restaurant and alongside Denise tried two giant desserts which they referred to as “comfort food”. Both had already visited El Lugar de Nos as part of the Tacos With Muchachos segment and on this occasion they tried two dessert dishes. The first one is a casserole with caramelized apples, nut and vanilla ice cream, and caramelized pecan nuts.

The second one is called the “Cookie Monster”, a giant chocolate chip cookie in a pan with vanilla ice cream, strawberries, and blueberries. Koenig said that this is an ideal dessert to share with family both for its size and because of its incredible flavors.

Denise described the desserts as perfect to eat after a bad day, since it is ideal to cheer up your day due to its great combination of flavors and ingredients. It also has a great “plus” created by the combination of hot desserts with the cold of the ice cream. Lastly, they tried two drinks in order to conclude their dessert tasting at El Lugar de Nos.
