Yesterday, July 20, a man’s death was reported after undergoing an intervention to lose weight. According to the report of media outlet Punto Norte, the bariatric surgery with laparoscopy was carried out on July 18.

The reason why the Tennessee native chose to have this surgery is because he was obese. The hospital staff noticed he had died while the patient was still in recovery. When he was checked, the man did not respond. His vital signs were checked and doctors realized he had died. Robert’s body was transferred over to the Forensics Medical Service in order to determine a cause of death.

It should be noted that the man paid $3,000 dollars for this operation.

Hospital Mi Doctor located in Zona Río has not released any statements on social media regarding this tragedy and there haven’t been reports of medical negligence at this medical facility.

It should also be noted that recovery times for this type of surgeries tend to be very quick, after only two or three days in the hospital and after only two to five weeks the patient may return to their regular activities.
