Baja California Governor, Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda presented the 2022-2027 State Development Plan (PED) which addresses the main public policies that governs the region as well as determines its future in the short, medium, and long term. This was carried out with the heads of the five municipalities, the two municipal councils, and leaders from several different sectors of society.
In her speech to Baja Californians, the state governor pointed out that the PED has captured the feelings of the state’s inhabitants, as well as reflecting their outlooks, their different lifestyles, and the ways in which they feel about Baja California.
“The State Development Plan that we are presenting today means plurality, it means inclusion, it means the sum of wills. This State Development Plan means certainty and clarity on the way we are headed,” she said.
The Governor underscored that thousands of Baja Californians put forward their proposals, their demands, and their concerns to authorities, and these were essential in creating the PED.
It should be noted that public policy experts, urbanists, academics, professional colleges, business chambers, and citizen organizations were also consulted.
Following the Fourth Transformation principles, the perspective of traditionally marginalized groups was taken into account, since they had been ignored by previous administrations.
“Today I can tell you with total certainty that this State Development Plan is the most plural and inclusive in the history of Baja California because here we have our voices, our wills, our wishes, and our dreams,” she said.
Accompanied by Administration Coordinator, Alfredo Álvarez Cárdenas, and the Director of the State Development Planning Committee, Brígida Fernández, the Governor explained that the program consists of seven sectoral and three intersectional public policy axes, which work together to carry out comprehensive government actions.
“Today, with a way forward and with heart, we are working for a vision aimed at the future, for those who are coming after us. We still have time to build together with our hearts the Baja California of tomorrow", she stated.
