Mexican government and Marina del Pilar coordinate support for people with disabilities

They are looking to deliver universal aid to all people with disabilities in the state

The Secretary of Welfare of Mexico, Ariadna Montiel Reyes, visited Baja California to back the work carried out by Baja California Governor, Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda, and announce a series of coordination measures between both levels of government. These are focused on the total wellbeing of people with disabilities that live in the state.

The federal official went to the 28th edition of “Morning Press Conference With Marina del Pilar” which took place at Segunda Región Naval in Ensenada and pointed out that through an equal union of resources by state and federal administrations, a budget of $759 million pesos will be added for 2022. This will be to give universal aid to around 152,000 people with disabilities in Baja California.

She revealed that soon a registration of people with disabilities will begin using modules across different municipalities, hoping to incorporate 77,000 people into the system.

Because of this, Montiel Reyes thanked Governor Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda for her willingness to coordinate with Mexico’s Secretariat of Welfare whose goal is to assist as best as possible vulnerable groups such as children and teenagers with disabilities and elderly people.

In her speech, Marina del Pilar highlighted that her state has repeated the efforts led by Mexico’s President, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, since they both share the Fourth Transformation vision which is why they work every day to improve Baja Californians’ living conditions.

She put as an example the Violet Card program, which gives comprehensive aid to women who are heads of family in Baja California. This program consists of a bimonthly deposit of $2,600 pesos to help them assist their loved ones because it is clear that women are one of the main pillars of Baja Californian society.

She also spoke about the school breakfast program “Pancita Llena, Corazón Contento” (Full Belly, Happy Heart) which will be strengthened to reach schools in all the municipalities of Baja California in order to directly support children of the state.

“For our part, we are committed to the nation project of President López Obrador. Every moment, we have felt his support, his backing, his closeness, showing that love is paid with love,” she said.

The following people were present at the governor’s morning press conference: Secretary of Welfare of Baja California, Netzahualcóyotl Jáuregui Santillán; Municipal President of the XXIV Administration of Ensenada, Armando Ayala Robles, and Mexican Government Representative in Baja California, Jesús Alejandro Ruiz Uribe.
