After two years of broadcasting a press conference to inform citizens about the coronavirus in Baja California, the head of the Secretariat of Health, José Adrián Medina Amarillas, revealed that these conferences will be suspended. The agency will now focus in other state projects such as a new veterinarian clinic in Mexicali and an oncological hospital in Tijuana.
At the same time, he highlighted the importance that Tijuana has an oncological center where patients can be treated immediately without needing to be transferred to Mexicali. Facilities are being worked on so that patients are able to have their medical visit in Tijuana, although he said that surgeries will still need to be carried out in Mexicali.
So far, there is no information of where the new oncological hospital will be located as they are working on it.
In this context, Medina Amarillas stated that this change will again give priority to chronic disease cases such as infectious diseases, chronic renal conditions, everything related to maternity issues, cancer, and Alzheimer’s.
At the same time, he revealed that the construction of a veterinarian hospital in Mexicali is a priority for the Secretariat of Health in order to assist animals’ health.
