In this episode of Una Mordida Tacos Rosarito, Chef Danny Betancourt visited the famous King Taco Los Perrones, located in Calle Mar del Norte. This time, he tasted two tacos: the famous perrón taco priced at $2.75 dollars (55 pesos) and a simple meat taco $2.25 dollars (45 pesos).
Perrón Taco
This taco has guacamole, beans, onion, coriander, carne asada (grilled beef), a bed of Jack cheese, and is served in a thick flour tortilla, and also with a grilled half-pepper. When he took his first bite, Chef Danny stated that flavor is guaranteed when this type of flour tortilla is used in tacos.
Danny felt that the meat was drenched or cooked in its own juices or broth once grilled, since it has a very intense and peculiar taste. The meat was a little too salty, which he was able to neutralize with a little bit of lime and the combination of all ingredients in his second bite. The guacamole was actually watery guacamole, with the other ingredients making themselves felt with each bite, with the cheese adding quite an interesting flavor. Overall, this taco had a nice taste and a good size which is why it gets a rating of 8.2.

Asada Taco
The only thing that differentiates this taco from the previous one is their price and the fact that this one doesn’t have any cheese. Chef Danny added some charred sauce. However, all the other ingredients are there: grilled beef, watery guacamole, beans, onion, coriander and it is also served in a flour tortilla.
The added sauce gave it a nice flavor, but the meat was very soft and filled with taste as it was drenched in its own juice. This did not neutralize the smoked or coal flavors, but it was still a little bit too salty. One of the big pluses in these tacos was the flour tortillas and the sauce, which taste homemade and are not commercially available. This taco gets a rating of 7.8.
