TIJUANA.- At a press conference carried out the morning of February 9, Baja California Governor, Marina del Pilar, spoke about the efficiency of both the Government of Mexico and of the state to bring justice regarding the recent killings of journalists in the region.
At the same time, she also emphasized the clarity of advances that were obtained during the investigation, which have resulted in the detainment of the three alleged murderers of Lourdes Maldonado.
"From the very first moment of this unfortunate event, we have addressed this case with complete responsibility, using all of the resources that we have to solve it and have those responsible face justice,” she stated.
She noted that during the process, carried out by the State Prosecutor General Office, all norms and current guidelines have been followed in order to bring certainty to the victims’ families, to the journalistic community, and society at large.
Regarding this, general state prosecutor, Ricardo Iván Carpio Sánchez, stated that there is concrete evidence that three people were involved in the homicide.
He added that, due to the foundations laid, it is expected that the Judiciary Branch of Baja California processes them as accused and the case follows through so that there is no impunity.
