Catalino Zavala Márquez, Secretary of the Interior, led the commemoration ceremony for the promulgation of the Political Constitution of the United Mexican States, representing Baja California Governor, Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda.

In his speech, Zavala Márquez pointed out that this celebration is a day of reflection that allows us to analyze history, as well as honor the values and principles embodied in this document, which is of such great importance to all Mexicans.

Baja Californian Secretary of the Interior explained that participation from both institutions and civil society is necessary in order to uphold the ideals of those who fought for a nation with a federal republican democratic government; these ideals are what the 105th-year commemoration of the constitution promulgation is all about.

“Let’s keep fighting, just like those who were here before us, to achieve these principles and justice in these times where, without a doubt, we face important challenges and demands,” he stated during the civil act.

Likewise, in her intervention, Mexicali Municipal President, Norma Alicia Bustamente Martínez, stressed the importance of the role of the three levels of government in intensifying their efforts so that the diverse provisions published in our Magna Carta, related to the rights of women, people with disabilities, and diversity, become a reality.

State Education Secretary, Gerardo Solís Benavides, and Magistrate Gustavo Medina Contreras, representing the State Judiciary Branch, both attended the ceremony.

An important part of the ceremony was the presentation by Banda de Música del Estado with several interpretations that were appreciated and acknowledged by officials from the three levels of government and guests present.
