Baja California is not ruling out the possibility of requiring proof of vaccination on a regular basis

If the number of active cases in Baja California continues to climb, this voluntary precaution may become required

With the rapid increase in Covid-19 infections in Baja California, sanitary measures have been strengthened, including requiring a vaccination certificate in order to enter establishments starting in January. However, because this measure was not approved by Baja Californians, it was only offered as an option. Given the current situation in the region, the State Commission for the Protection Against Sanitary Risks (Coepris) stated that if the instances continue to rise, this may become required.

"The fact is that nothing is ruled out; it is a problem that is changing, and the micron variety has the potential to change the dynamics," said Erwin Areizaga Uribe, the chairman of the State Commission for the Protection Against Sanitary Risks, during a news conference.

It should be noted that in Baja California, requesting proof of vaccination is optional, as this is for the consideration of non-essential establishments related to entertainment, such as restaurants, bars, movie theaters, casinos, gyms, stadiums, and other entertainment centers. However, if this sanitary measure becomes effective, it will only apply to places of entertainment such as nightclubs, he explained.

Because Baja California is at an orange traffic light, capacity in the state's institutions has been restricted to 50% in order to avoid the spread of the fatal virus, which presently has roughly 9,000 active cases, according to what they recall. It is essential to take precautions to avoid infection.
